Symetra Names Roderick Halvorson to Lead Financial Institutions Channel

Symetra Financial recently announced that Roderick J. Halvorson has accepted the position of senior vice president of business development. Halvorson will lead the wholesaling and training groups for the company's Financial Institutions Distribution Channel. Halvorson has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and was most recently president of the bank channel for MetLife Investors, the distribution company for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

"Rod brings with him a proven track record of securing successful new distribution relationships within financial institutions and broker and dealer channels as well," said Pat McCormick, senior vice president of sales and distribution for Symetra Financial. "We are thrilled to have someone with his background and experience in this strategic leadership role as we continue to profitably grow our company and expand our presence within financial institutions."

Prior to joining MetLife Investors, Halvorson held several key business development roles, including managing director at Sage Life Assurance Company and president and co-founder of Independent Financial Marketing Group, a third-party marketing organization. He holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Montana , and earned his undergraduate degree from Whitworth College in Spokane .
